• Aerial abstract of Utah badlands at sunrise, with blue-toned clay ridges intersected by bright orange sunlight on the ridge tops.

Prometheus

At first glance, it isn’t immediately clear what you’re looking at - and that uncertainty is part of the point. This is an aerial view of the central Utah badlands, photographed from above as sharp clay ridges rise and fall across the landscape.

The scene was captured during the transition from blue hour into sunrise. Cool pre-dawn light settles into the shadows, giving the clay a muted blue tone, while the first direct sunlight ignites the ridge crests in vivid orange. From this perspective, the terrain stops reading as ground and starts behaving more like a pattern: lines, shapes, and forms that shift and morph as the sun continues its never ending journey.
