Cascadian Shroud
We moved slowly uphill as the world began to brighten, unsure whether patience would be rewarded. A fox passed quietly through the meadow, unconcerned. Then, without warning, a faint glow appeared in the fog. For a brief moment, the massive volcano emerged - fully lit by warm sunrise light - before vanishing again just as quickly. Before long, the fog settled and thinned enough to reveal this scene: delicate western pasqueflower in the foreground and Rainier rising clearly above, calm and luminous after its long concealment.
