The Factory

This photograph was captured from low altitude by drone above the central Utah badlands, looking toward the unmistakable form of Factory Butte. From above, the landscape reveals itself as a dense network of ridges and channels - soft, repeating textures carved by erosion over immense spans of time.

Dark, moody clouds hang overhead, lending weight and contrast to the pale clay below. While these badlands are visually mesmerizing from the air, they’re far less forgiving on foot, where every mile across the deeply folded terrain demands patience and effort. From this elevated perspective, the scene becomes more abstract and architectural, emphasizing form and pattern as much as place.
