Valley of Fire

After days of chasing autumn color across West Virginia with little to show for it, this scene came as a complete surprise. As sunset approached and my original plan slipped out of reach, I pulled off near Canaan Valley to see what the landscape held. Instead of bare trees, the hills exploded with peak fall color - layers of red, orange, and gold stretching into the distance as the sun dipped low. Warm light poured across the rolling terrain, transforming an unplanned stop into the most memorable moment of the entire trip.
