10 Best Photography Spots in Grand Canyon National Park

  • South Rim - This popular area provides stunning views of the canyon, with opportunities to capture photos of the sunrise, sunset, and changing colors of the canyon. Want to escape the swarming crowds? Just take a few steps away from the main overlooks and go for a walk along the rim trail.

  • North Rim - This less-visited area provides opportunities for capturing photos of the canyon from a unique perspective, with fewer crowds and a more rugged landscape.

  • Desert View Watchtower (South Rim) - This historic watchtower offers stunning views of the canyon and surrounding landscapes, with opportunities to capture photos of the sunrise and sunset.

  • Bright Angel Trail - This popular trail provides opportunities for capturing photos of the canyon's unique geological features, including the Bright Angel Fault and various rock formations.

  • Yavapai Point (South Rim) - This overlook provides stunning views of the canyon and opportunities for capturing photos of the changing light and shadows.

  • Hermit Road (South Rim) - This scenic drive provides opportunities for capturing photos of the canyon's dramatic landscapes, with various overlooks and viewpoints along the way.

  • Hopi Point (South Rim) - This overlook provides stunning views of the canyon and opportunities for capturing photos of the sunrise and sunset.

  • Mather Point (South Rim) - This popular overlook provides stunning views of the canyon and opportunities for capturing photos of the changing light and shadows.

  • Grandview Point (South Rim) - This overlook provides opportunities for capturing photos of the canyon's unique geological features, including the Vishnu Schist and various rock formations.

  • Toroweap - This remote area provides opportunities for capturing photos of the canyon from a unique perspective, with stunning views of the Colorado River and various rock formations. This is one of my favorite places to take in the grandeur of the Canyon, but be prepared to set aside at least a full day to visit. If you plan on spending the night, you’ll need to get a backcountry permit before setting out.
